Rep. Abigail Spanberger, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Virginia’s 7th district, has recently shared her thoughts on significant historical and contemporary issues through a series of tweets. Her posts reflect her commitment to legislative reform and bipartisan cooperation.

On December 6, 2024, Rep. Spanberger marked the anniversary of the ratification of the 13th Amendment with a call for further constitutional reform. She stated, “#OTD in 1865, the 13th Amendment was ratified, abolishing slavery — except as a punishment for crime.” She expressed her support for legislation aimed at removing any remaining permissions for slavery from the U.S. Constitution.

Later that day, she emphasized her bipartisan efforts in Congress, tweeting “In Congress, I’ve been proud to work with lawmakers on both sides of the aisle to address the real issues facing our communities, our Commonwealth, and our country.” She reiterated her commitment to delivering results expected by Virginians through collaborative efforts across party lines.

On December 7, 2024, Rep. Spanberger commemorated Pearl Harbor Day by honoring those who lost their lives during the attack and those who served afterward. She tweeted “Today, we remember the 2,403 Americans lost in the attack on Pearl Harbor.” Her team participated in a remembrance ceremony at the Virginia War Memorial.
