Former Forest Park High School standout Alex Shelkin took the mound for the Christopher Newport Captains on Wednesday, March 11, at 2 p.m., helping his team earn a 15-4 victory against the Coast Guard Bears in NCAA Division III baseball action.

The matchup was held at Captains Park and marked the season’s first meeting between the Captains and the Bears.

Shelkin pitched two innings and tallied three strikeouts.

The Captains are set to face Randolph-Macon Yellow Jackets in their upcoming game, scheduled for Saturday, March 21, at 2 p.m. at Captains Park.
