Virginia Attorney General Jason Miyares has announced new leadership appointments within his office. Ryan Ferguson has taken on the role of Chief of Staff as of April 28, while continuing his duties as General Counsel, a position he has held since August 2022. Ferguson’s prior experience includes serving as an Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney in Virginia Beach and working at Kaufman & Canoles, PC, as well as being a litigation partner with Bischoff Martingayle, PC. He is an alumnus of James Madison University and Regent University School of Law.

Shaun Kenney has been appointed Senior Advisor effective May 10. Previously, he was the Director of Communications. Kenney is a former executive director of the Republican Party of Virginia and holds a degree from the University of Virginia. He is also pursuing graduate studies in philosophy at the Catholic University of America.

Chloe Smith has stepped into the role of Director of Communications, also effective May 10. She previously served as Deputy Director of Communications and Press Secretary after joining Miyares’ administration in August 2022. Smith graduated from Colgate University.
