Attorney General Jason Miyares premiered a new documentary titled “One Pill Can Kill” at Salem High School in Virginia Beach, focusing on the dangers of fentanyl and counterfeit pills among young people. The event aimed to raise awareness about the risks associated with synthetic opioids and their prevalence in counterfeit medications.

“As we enter a new year, the threat posed by fentanyl remains just as deadly as ever,” said Attorney General Jason Miyares. “Young people today are facing unprecedented risks from counterfeit pills that are easily accessible and deceptively dangerous. This documentary reinforces a simple but lifesaving truth that one pill can kill.”

The documentary presents information on how fentanyl-laced pills are made and distributed, as well as their impact on individuals and families. It includes stories from victims, perspectives from law enforcement, and emphasizes recovery options for those dealing with addiction.

The Office of the Attorney General acknowledged the support of First Lady Suzanne Youngkin and the Drug Enforcement Administration in producing the film. According to officials, this project brings together voices from across Virginia to address the crisis through education, prevention, and treatment.

The event at Salem High School is part of ongoing outreach efforts by the Attorney General’s office to inform students directly about fentanyl dangers through school assemblies, community events, and digital resources.

The “One Pill Can Kill” documentary is now available for public viewing at https://youtu.be/WPQ7Ozd2Z68. Additional information about the campaign can be found at https://onepillcankillva.org/.

More details about these responsibilities are available on the official website and through recent news releases. Miyares serves as the 48th Attorney General of Virginia for the entire Commonwealth.
