Attorney General Jason Miyares participated in the Virginia Rules Camp celebration in Norfolk, marking the 21st season of these camps. The camps are funded by over $62,000 in grants from the Office of the Attorney General (OAG). They are organized with Virginia law enforcement agencies and community stakeholders to provide young people with education on Virginia law and positive interactions with local officers.
This year, Miyares expanded the camps from 15 to 25 locations, including Albemarle County, Augusta County, Bluefield, Botetourt County (2 sessions), Bristol, Buena Vista, Chesapeake, Chesterfield County (4 sessions), Dickenson County, Franklin County, Lexington (3 sessions), Newport News, Norfolk, Nottoway County, Petersburg, Pittsylvania County, Prince William County, Radford, Roanoke County, Russell County, Shenandoah County, Stafford County (2 sessions), and Washington County.
Virginia Rules Camps offer traditional activities like swimming and hiking alongside lessons on important issues such as fentanyl dangers and gun violence. Aimed at rising sixth through ninth graders during summer break at no cost to parents.
