On Friday, Feb. 27, at 2 p.m., Alex Shelkin, a former Forest Park High School standout, and the Christopher Newport Captains were defeated 6-2 by the Messiah Falcons in an NCAA Division III baseball game.

The matchup, played at Captains Park, marked their first meeting with the Falcons this season.

Shelkin pitched 0.2 innings, giving up four earned runs and issuing two walks.

The Captains are set to play their next game against Messiah Falcons at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 28, at Captains Park.
