Development Services’ Building Development Division has introduced a new feature to assist in the construction permit application process. The Plan Intake now offers specialized quality control consultations for both commercial and residential projects through a Virtual Appointment Scheduling System.

“This tailored service reflects our commitment to adapting to the evolving needs of our customers, ensuring that expertise and compliance assistance are readily available to keep customer projects on track,” said Mandi Spina, Director, Department of Development Services.

The modern permitting solutions aim to enhance the customer experience, especially when additional guidance is needed during the complex permitting process. Customers can be assured that if an expert consultation is necessary, they will be informed promptly and given the opportunity to schedule a virtual appointment.

The streamlined project permitting processes offer several benefits:

– Prompt notification: Customers are informed without delay if an expert consultation becomes necessary during the permit application process.
– Virtual appointment scheduling: Customers have the convenience of scheduling a virtual appointment with an expert.
– Convenience and efficiency: The virtual format allows customers to attend consultations from their preferred location, eliminating travel and wait times.
– Enhanced communication: Virtual consultations provide space for detailed discussions about project details and personalized advice.
– Targeted advice: Experts provide insights tailored to specific concerns or challenges raised by customers.

Permitting and plan review play a crucial role in code compliance by identifying potential errors before construction begins. This phase helps reduce safety risks and violations when they are easier to address.
