Dover Food Retail will invest over $20 million to expand its operations in Chesterfield County, Virginia, by relocating its Anthony brand manufacturing from Sylmar, California. The move is expected to create more than 300 new jobs in the state.
The expanded facility will manufacture commercial glass refrigerator and freezer doors and frames for food retail customers across North America and globally. Advanced technology will be used at the site.
“Dover Food Retail’s move from California to Virginia is an incredible endorsement of the Commonwealth as a hub for advanced manufacturing,” said Governor Glenn Youngkin. “The cases produced in this facility will soon be used at some of the largest food and beverage retailers nationwide. With 300 new jobs created by this investment, Virginia continues to be the best place in the nation to grow a business, create opportunity and build a future.”
Secretary of Commerce and Trade Juan Pablo Segura commented, “Dover Food Retail is doubling down on the Commonwealth with their expansion in Chesterfield County. Soon, hundreds more Virginians will be hard at work assembling the refrigeration equipment that supports American food and beverage retailers. By expanding their manufacturing footprint in the Commonwealth, Dover is opening new opportunities to reach the ports, highways and railways that drive American commerce.”

Dover Food Retail manufactures commercial refrigeration systems under brands such as Anthony and Hillphoenix. The company employs over 3,000 people worldwide.

The project was secured through cooperation between the Virginia Economic Development Partnership (VEDP) and Chesterfield County authorities.
Governor Youngkin approved a $900,000 grant from the Commonwealth’s Opportunity Fund to assist with project costs.
Additionally,the Virginia Jobs Investment Program (VJIP) will support job creation efforts by offering consultative services along with funding for recruitment activities.
