Prince William County leaders, staff, and community members gathered to celebrate the renovations at Forest Greens Golf Club. The ribbon-cutting ceremony was attended by County Executive Christopher Shorter, Board of County Supervisors Chair-at-Large Deshundra Jefferson, and Vice Chair Andrea O. Bailey.
Shorter emphasized the importance of recreation and park amenities in maintaining the county’s quality of life. “We talk often about quality of life here in Prince William County and maintaining the quality of life in the county,” he said. “Well recreation, parks, park amenities like this are exactly what it requires to keep our county beautiful and keep the folks who live in our county and those who visit coming back again and again.”
Jefferson highlighted the role of recreational spaces in fostering social connections. “We need access to green space. We need places where the community can come together, where people can form those social connections. We saw how vital that was during the pandemic,” she stated.
Bailey expressed enthusiasm for the renovations completed at the golf course since its original opening in 1996. “This is a great day!” she said. She acknowledged all parties involved in updating and refreshing the golf club, including Prince William County Parks and Recreation staff, contractors, golf club staff, Dumfries Town Council, and Quantico.
The clubhouse now features modern signage at its entrance, an updated lobby with a fireplace, a grill room, restrooms for men and women, a pro shop, as well as new furniture.
Funding for these improvements came from Prince William County Parks and Recreation’s Capital Improvement Program aimed at upgrading existing facilities throughout the county while supporting new projects.
