George Mason Earns #5 Seed in A-10 Championship, Opens Play Wednesday

After matching a program best with 11 A-10 wins during the 2022-23 season, the George Mason University men’s basketball team has earned the No. 5 seed in the Atlantic 10 Championship and will open play in the second round on Wednesday inside the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y.

The Patriots earn a first-round bye and will play the winner of Tuesday’s game between #12 Richmond and #13 Massachusetts. Mason’s second round contest will tip at 2 p.m. Wednesday and be televised on USA Network.

George Mason’s 11-7 record and its No. 5 seed both match A-10 program bests. The Patriots previously earned 11 wins in 2018-19 and have played as the No. 5 seed in 2017-18 and 2018-19.

The Green & Gold are playing their best basketball of the season heading into the tournament. Mason has won a program-record six-straight A-10 games. That streak includes a victory at top-75 foe Dayton on Feb. 25, a home triumph over No. 3 seed Fordham and a last-second thrilling win at Richmond on March 4.
