Governor Glenn Youngkin has announced a series of new appointments to various administration and board positions. These appointments cover a range of sectors including education, public safety, transportation, agriculture, commerce, health, labor, natural resources, and veterans affairs.

In the education sector, appointments have been made within the Board of Education. Public safety and homeland security see new appointees in 9-1-1 services. Transportation roles include appointments to the Virginia Aviation Board and the Virginia Passenger Rail Authority.

The agriculture and forestry sector includes several boards such as the Board of Agriculture and Consumer Services, Horse Industry Board, Peanut Board, Small Grains Board, Soybean Board, Tobacco Board, Virginia Board of Forestry, and Virginia Spirits Board.

Commerce and trade will be guided by new members on the Broadband Advisory Council. The Commonwealth’s governance is further strengthened with appointees to the Virginia Council on Women and the Virginia LGBTQ+ Advisory Board.

Environmental oversight is addressed through positions on commissions like the Ohio River Valley Water Sanitation Commission and Potomac River Fisheries Commission. Safety in transportation is supported by appointees to the Washington Metrorail Safety Commission Interstate Compact.

Health and human resources are covered with appointments to advisory boards like Behavioral Analysis and Family and Children’s Trust Fund among others. Labor roles include those on councils such as Apprenticeship Council along with boards for various professional fields.

Natural resources management will be enhanced through positions on boards including Wildlife Resources, Air Pollution Control, Water Control Boards among others.

The announcement also covers veterans’ affairs with appointments to the Joint Leadership Council of Veterans Service Organizations.
