Governor Glenn Youngkin and First Lady Suzanne S. Youngkin have donated their third quarter gubernatorial salary to the organization Young Life. The donation, amounting to $43,750, was presented during a visit to Young Life’s camp in Goshen, Virginia.
The Governor emphasized the importance of investing in youth through organizations like Young Life, stating, “Young Life represents the very best of what happens when we invest in our youth.” He noted that for over 80 years, the organization has been reaching out to kids from diverse backgrounds and demonstrating God’s love.
First Lady Suzanne S. Youngkin highlighted the organization’s impact on young people by enhancing their lives through meaningful experiences. She said, “Young Life enhances the lives of countless youth in the most meaningful way—by demonstrating God’s love.”
Young Life has shown significant influence both locally and globally. In 2024 alone, it reached over 2.9 million youth worldwide and operates across all 50 states and more than 100 countries. A substantial portion of its revenue is directed towards local ministries.
Brendan Trentler, a volunteer at Rockbridge camp and a student at James Madison University, shared his positive experience with Young Life: “I can’t believe I get to watch the transformation happen every week in the club room and around camp.”
Josh Griffin, Senior Vice President for Eastern US at Young Life, expressed gratitude towards those who support adolescent mental health within the administration. He stated that this donation will help continue creating spaces where students can thrive.
The visit also included interactions with camp counselors and leadership who provided insights into their work at the camp.
