Former Battlefield High School standout Jackson Baird took the mound for the Christopher Newport Captains on Friday, Feb. 27, at 2 p.m. as his team dropped a 6-2 decision to the Messiah Falcons in NCAA Division III baseball.

The matchup, held at Captains Park, marked the teams’ first encounter this season.

Baird delivered six innings with one walk and eight strikeouts.

The Captains will face the Messiah Falcons again at Captains Park, with their next contest set for Saturday, Feb. 28, at 11 a.m.
