Prince William County Parks and Recreation is inviting families to enjoy a series of shows at the Jean C. Smith Amphitheater located in Locust Shade Park this summer. The amphitheater, which offers both bench seating under a shade structure and additional grass area seating, will host various family-friendly performances during late spring and summer.
The lineup includes puppet shows, reptile exhibitions, magic acts, and Broadway-style reviews. Tickets are priced at $6 per person for general admission (ages 2 years and up) or $5.50 per person for groups of ten or more. Payments can be made upon arrival at the venue entrance.
Among the scheduled events is “Reptile World,” where audiences can meet live reptiles from around the globe on June 26, July 17, and August 7 at 10:30 am. This program aims to educate attendees about reptiles’ roles in the environment while dispelling myths surrounding them.
Harmony Studios will offer a free Broadway-style review show on June 7 at 6:00 pm. As a nonprofit established in 2020, Harmony Studios strives to make musical theater accessible to all families regardless of financial constraints. They provide a safe space for children to develop their artistic talents.
Funmakers will present Zig Zag’s Magic Variety Show on July 3 and July 24 at 10:30 am, promising laughter with puppetry, music, and magic.
Kingdom Music Citizens will perform on July 12 at 4:00 pm without charge. Directed by Eric Ofei, this group of young musicians specializes in jazz, gospel, reggae, and afro-centric genres.
“The Three Not So Little Pigs” puppet show is scheduled for July 10 and July 31 at 10:30 am.
Attendees are permitted to bring picnic-style food and soft beverages; however, alcoholic drinks are prohibited. Videotaping performances is also not allowed. For further details or reservations, call Prince William County Parks and Recreation at 703-792-8780.
