During its first meeting of the year, the Prince William Board of County Supervisors held several key organizational activities. These included electing new leadership positions, adopting the 2026 meeting schedule, and hearing the annual State of the County address.
Chair At-Large Deshundra Jefferson delivered her third State of the County address, highlighting significant achievements from 2025. She noted coordinated progress across county government and pointed to accomplishments such as adopting a new strategic plan for 2025–2028, maintaining tax relief while increasing investments in public safety, infrastructure, and education. Jefferson also mentioned expanded affordable housing through the county’s first Affordable Dwelling Unit Ordinance and ongoing funding commitments. Additional priorities included modernizing service delivery with PWC 311 and expanding behavioral health services by opening the Prince William Crisis Receiving Center Complex.
Jefferson stated: “We will continue to make decisions that reflect our values, protect our quality of life and ensure that Prince William County remains a place where people want to live, work, raise a family and call home. Prince William County is a growing community. It’s a thriving community. It’s a vibrant community, and it is one we are building together. As we look ahead to the coming year, I am confident in our direction and inspired by our potential.”
She invited residents to attend the second annual State of the County event on Monday, January 26 at the Hylton Performing Arts Center. An open house is scheduled from 6-7 p.m., with the main event starting at 7 p.m.
In addition to these activities, Neabsco District Supervisor Victor Angry was elected as Vice Chair for 2026; he previously served in this role in 2020 and is currently the longest-serving member of the Board. Brentsville District Supervisor Tom Gordy was selected as Chair Pro-Tem for 2026; before joining the Board in November 2023, Gordy served on the Planning Commission.
