Prince William Community Services has announced that its Vocational Services Program is participating in the Virginia Department of Health’s Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP). The CACFP is a federal initiative that reimburses organizations providing balanced meals to children and adults in care settings. Through this program, participants in the Vocational Services Program will receive healthy meals each day at no separate charge.
According to Prince William Community Services, “Meals are provided at no separate charge to all VSP participants, regardless of race, color, national origin, religion, sex, disability, age, marital status, family or parental status, income derived from public assistance, political beliefs or prior civil rights activity.”
The program also notes that adult participants who are part of households receiving SNAP, FDPIR, SSI or Medicaid are automatically eligible for reimbursement benefits at the free rate.
Meals will be served at the Prince William Community Services – Vocational Services Program location on 8500 Phoenix Drive in Manassas.
In accordance with federal law and U.S. Department of Agriculture regulations and policies: “this institution is prohibited from discriminating based on race, color, national origin, religion, sex, disability, age, marital status, family/parental status, income derived from public assistance, political beliefs or reprisal or retaliation for prior civil rights activity in any program or activity conducted or funded by USDA.”
The Department of Community Services provides support for residents affected by developmental delays and disabilities as well as mental illness and substance use disorders across Prince William County and nearby cities. The department coordinates community-based resources to promote dignity and participation for individuals and their families.
