The Prince William County Solid Waste Division, in partnership with magisterial district offices, will offer community Dumpster Day events this fall. These events are designed to help residents and local groups dispose of unwanted items and clean up litter in their neighborhoods. Free dumpsters will be available at different locations throughout the county.

According to the Solid Waste Division, Dumpster Days are open to all county residents. The division encourages neighbors to work together on community cleanups and coordinate with Keep Prince William Beautiful for litter removal efforts. Volunteers can participate in area litter pickups or use the free dumpsters to clear clutter from their homes and yards. Some event sites will also feature paper shredding services and reuse collection options. The full schedule of fall events is available at www.pwcva.gov/dumpster-days.

Certain items cannot be disposed of at these dumpsters, including electronics, household hazardous waste, liquids, fuel tanks or drums, motor oil, antifreeze, paint products, pesticides, pool chemicals, and commercial waste. These materials should instead be taken to the Prince William County Landfill for proper disposal; more information can be found at www.pwcva.gov/disposalguide.

For those discarding household appliances such as refrigerators or microwaves during Dumpster Days, guidelines include ensuring refrigerators are empty and clean with doors taped shut and removing glass trays from microwaves before drop-off.

Event dates and locations can be found by visiting www.pwcva.gov/dumpster-days or by referring to the attached flyer for more details.
