Carylee Carrington has been named the new Chair of the Prince William County Arts Council. Carrington is known nationally as a children’s author, arts advocate, and community leader. She founded Read With Carylee, which focuses on promoting diverse children’s literature and connecting authors with schools, libraries, and families in the region.
In her new role, Carrington plans to focus on increasing visibility for artists in Prince William County and expanding opportunities for youth engagement in the arts. She also aims to create more inclusive spaces for creative expression across different artistic disciplines.
“It is an incredible honor to step into this role at such a pivotal time for the arts in our county,” said Carrington. “Prince William is rich with talent, culture, and creative spirit. My goal is to make sure every artist—emerging or established—feels seen, supported, and celebrated by this Council.”
Carrington’s appointment comes as the Arts Council prepares to introduce new initiatives and build stronger partnerships with local schools, businesses, and organizations. Under her leadership, there will be an emphasis on growing membership and supporting programming led by artists that reflect the diversity of Prince William County.
The Prince William County Arts Council works closely with the Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) to support artists and encourage public appreciation for the arts within the county. The council brings together artists, organizations, educators, and community leaders to strengthen local creativity through various platforms.
