The Prince William County Office of Procurement Services has been awarded the 2025 Annual Achievement of Excellence in Procurement (AEP) by the National Procurement Institute, Inc. This award is given to public agencies that demonstrate superior procurement practices through innovation, professionalism, productivity, leadership, and a commitment to e-procurement.
In 2025, Prince William County was one of only 48 counties nationwide to receive this award. This achievement highlights the county’s dedication to maintaining high standards and best practices in public procurement.
“The AEP award reflects our dedication to delivering quality procurement services for county government,” stated Shana Terry, Chief Procurement Officer/Director. “This recognition underscores our commitment to value, transparency and strategic impact across the county. I am honored that we received this distinguished award and excited to build on this success as we advance our commitment to procurement excellence.”
This year marks the 29th anniversary of the AEP program, with 216 public and nonprofit agencies earning this distinction. The program aims to promote continuous organizational improvement and establish a national benchmark for excellence in public procurement.
County Executive Chris Shorter commended the team’s accomplishment: “This award is a reflection of the professionalism and integrity that define our Office of Procurement Services. Shana and her team play a critical role in ensuring that taxpayer dollars are spent wisely, fairly and transparently. Their commitment to excellence strengthens public trust and supports every department in delivering high-quality services to our residents.”
