Prince William County residents will soon have expanded access to waste disposal services. Starting January 3, 2026, the County Landfill and Compost Facility will operate seven days a week, including new Sunday hours. This change is part of the FY2026 Budget adopted by the Board of County Supervisors.

Khattab Shammout, Director of Public Works, stated, “Adding Sunday hours is something many residents have requested, and we’re pleased to deliver on that priority, thanks to the support from the Board of County Supervisors.” The updated schedule aims to provide greater flexibility for household waste management.

The facilities’ new operating hours will be Monday through Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Thursday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. The implementation date allows time for staffing adjustments and public outreach efforts. It also provides commercial hauling companies time to adjust collection routes.

Residents and haulers can find more information at www.pwcva.gov/disposal or by calling 703-792-4670. Public notices and signage will be posted in advance of the changes.
