Prince William County is offering a range of recreation and fitness programs in January aimed at helping residents start the year with healthy habits. The county’s Department of Parks, Recreation & Tourism announced classes and workshops designed for various fitness levels and interests.
Pickleball classes will begin on January 5 at Veterans Memorial Park. These sessions cater to both beginners and more experienced players, covering basic strokes, rules, and scoring. Equipment is provided for entry-level participants, while those in advanced classes are encouraged to bring their own paddles.
Aquabilities sessions will be held at Chinn Aquatics & Fitness Center. Led by a certified personal trainer, these classes focus on gentle water exercises intended to improve flexibility, joint movement, and muscle strength while minimizing strain.
A TRX (Total Resistance Exercises) educational workshop is scheduled for Friday, January 16 at Sharron Baucom Dale City Recreation Center. This session introduces suspension training using adjustable straps to build strength and balance. Passholders can attend for free; non-members pay a $12 fee.
For those interested in Pilates, two options are available. A Pilates Principles Workshop takes place on Saturday, January 17 at Dale City Recreation Center. The workshop covers foundational elements such as breathing, concentration, control, centering, precision, balanced muscle development, rhythm and flow, whole-body movement, and relaxation. Attendance is free for passholders or $12 for non-members.
Pilates Reformer Foundations classes are also offered at Dale City Recreation Center throughout January. These classes are tailored to beginners or those returning to Pilates after some time away. Sessions focus on posture improvement, core strength development, flexibility enhancement, and balance training.
Residents seeking individualized guidance can consider working with one of the county’s certified personal trainers. The trainers help develop custom fitness programs based on each participant’s goals. There are ongoing sales on personal training packages as well as student passes through the end of the year; membership pass discounts begin January 1.
