Prince William County officials recognized Child Abuse Prevention Month on Apr. 17, highlighting efforts to ensure the safety and well-being of children in the community.

The observance draws attention to the importance of providing every child with a safe, stable, and supportive environment. The initiative underscores ongoing work by advocates, educators, law enforcement officers, and local partners who strive daily to protect children and strengthen families.

As part of this year’s campaign, the Adult Detention Center (ADC) participated in the Pinwheels for Prevention initiative. Pinwheels were placed in public spaces as a visible reminder that every child deserves protection and support. Organizers said these pinwheels also represent elected representatives’ commitment to standing with families in safeguarding children.

Throughout April and beyond, county leaders emphasized their dedication to building safer communities by acknowledging the ongoing need for child protection and family support services.

The broader effort reflects a continuing commitment from Prince William County agencies and community members to prevent abuse and create lasting positive change for children.
