Registration is now open for the 2026 Polar Plunge, an annual fundraising event supporting Special Olympics Virginia. The event will take place at Leesylvania State Park in Woodbridge on Saturday, February 14, 2026.
The Prince William County Police Department is encouraging individuals and teams to participate by braving cold temperatures both on land and in the water. Participants can join as individuals or form teams with friends, family, or colleagues. Those interested can also support the cause by donating funds or attending the event to cheer on participants.
Activities at the Polar Plunge will include live music, games, door prizes, food trucks, law enforcement displays, a costume contest, and a plunge into the Potomac River.
The public can register for “Team PWCPD” or donate through the official event website: https://impact.specialolympicsva.org/team/779369. This site provides details about joining Team PWCPD and making donations.
According to organizers, “The Polar Plunge benefits Special Olympics, an organization which is supported by law enforcement officers throughout the United States and in 45 countries.”
Special Olympics receives support from law enforcement agencies nationwide as well as internationally.
