The second annual State of the County event is set to take place on Monday, March 2, at the Hylton Performing Arts Center. The event will gather residents, elected officials, county leadership, and partners to review progress and discuss priorities for the coming year in Prince William County.
Chair At-Large Deshundra Jefferson stated, “The State of the County is about bringing our community together to reflect on how far we’ve come and where we’re going. These conversations help ensure our work continues to reflect the needs of the people we serve.”
Starting at 6 p.m., an open house will be held in the Didlake Foyer. Attendees can interact with county staff at tables that highlight departments advancing the Strategic Plan. Staff members will answer questions and share information about their efforts to achieve results for residents.
At 7 p.m., three panel discussions will be held in the Gregory Theater. The panels will focus on community safety, workforce development and career pathways, as well as living and recreation in Prince William County.
The Reimagining Community Safety panel will include public safety and behavioral health leaders who plan to discuss current approaches to community safety, collaboration among agencies, prevention strategies, compassionate response methods, and ways to improve trust with residents.
A separate panel on workforce development aims to examine strategies for expanding career opportunities and building a strong regional workforce ecosystem. The discussion will address how these efforts support long-term quality of life for a growing population.
Another panel will explore planning around parks and recreation, housing, tourism, and overall amenities that influence daily life in the county. This discussion is expected to bring together perspectives from various departments involved in shaping these areas.
Organizers describe the event as an opportunity for conversation and transparency between county leadership and residents regarding future plans.
