Prince William County has received a Commonwealth of Virginia IT Award for its online engagement platform, PWC Works. The award was given in the “Serving the Customer and Business” category.
The annual awards program is organized by the Virginia Information Technologies Agency (VITA) and Government Technology magazine. Winners were announced at the 28th Annual Commonwealth of Virginia Innovative Technology Symposium (COVITS) on September 16 in Richmond, Virginia.
PWC Works was developed through collaboration among the Office of Communications and Engagement, the Department of Information Technology, and several county departments. The platform is designed to encourage constituent participation in government activities and keep residents informed about projects such as the Permitting Process Improvements Initiative, Residential and Commercial Parking Initiative, and PWC 311.
According to Prince William County Executive Chris Shorter, “This award reflects Prince William County’s commitment to making government more open, accessible and engaging. PWC Works is more than just a platform, it’s a way of encouraging collaboration and dialogue with our community while keeping them informed about major projects that are happening in the county.”
The county describes PWC Works as part of its broader digital transformation strategy focused on accessibility, transparency, and user-centered design. This approach aims to build trust within the community and serve as a model for local governance.
The Commonwealth of Virginia IT Awards recognize achievements in public sector technology that demonstrate innovation, efficiency, and measurable impact on government operations or citizen services.
