The Prince William-Manassas Regional Adult Detention Center announced on May 8 that it has partnered with the Virginia Department of Transportation through the Adopt-a-Highway program and completed its first cleanup along Route 28 in Manassas.
This initiative marks a new effort by the detention center to engage with and serve the community in a visible way. The partnership is part of ongoing efforts to build stronger connections between local agencies and residents.
According to the announcement, employees from the detention center volunteered for the cleanup, collecting ten bags of trash during their first outing. The statement thanked those who participated in this community service activity.
The Adopt-a-Highway program allows organizations to take responsibility for cleaning up stretches of roadway, supporting environmental stewardship and civic involvement. By joining this program, the detention center aims to demonstrate its commitment to maintaining public spaces and fostering positive relationships within Manassas.
The detention center said it looks forward to continuing these efforts as part of its broader mission to serve Prince William County and Manassas.
