The Prince William Manassas Regional Adult Detention Center (ADC) has been recognized for its work in supporting individuals returning to society after incarceration. The facility received the Virginia Association of Counties (VACo) award for its Reentry Center, which began operations in February 2024.
Since opening, the Reentry Center has assisted people with various needs as they leave detention, including help finding shelter and addressing substance abuse issues. The center connects individuals with resources necessary for their transition back into the community.
According to a statement from the ADC, “Since the inception of the Reentry Center in February 2024, the ADC has helped individuals transition back into society upon being released. From needs for shelter, to substance abuse issues, the Reentry Center has provided individuals with connections to the things they need most.”
The VACo award is given annually to local government programs that show innovation and effective practices. Submissions come from counties across Virginia and recognize initiatives that address community concerns such as public safety and development. The Prince William Manassas Regional Adult Detention Center was honored with this award in October.
