Prince William Public Libraries is enhancing travel planning by offering unique resources and programs, coinciding with National Transportation Week, observed from May 16-22, 2025. Themed “Driving Change, Delivering Solutions,” this year’s events encourage exploration and community connectivity.
A highlight of these efforts is the library’s partnership with the Prince William County Department of Transportation. In support of “Bike to Work Day” on May 15, the department has donated Bike Repair Kits to the library. These kits facilitate simple bike repairs, featuring tools, a tire pump, and a dry patch kit, and are equipped with Velcro straps for easy transport. Patrons can check them out for three weeks and utilize consumable materials such as patches.
An episode of the library’s “Important Library Stuff” podcast will delve into regional travel improvements. The conversation will include the Department of Transportation’s Senior Communications Analyst discussing infrastructure projects designed to reduce congestion and enhance pedestrian safety across Prince William County.
Moreover, a representative from PWPL’s Communication Outreach Services team will discuss how the library’s mobile services bring literary and educational resources to various community locations, including senior housing and parks.
Residents can access the library’s offerings, such as travel guides and bike kits, through the online catalog. These initiatives aim to support community members in planning both local and extended travel.
