The Prince William Board of County Supervisors began its year with several key organizational actions during its first meeting. The Board adopted the annual meeting calendar, elected a vice chair and chair pro tempore, and heard the State of the County address from Chair At-Large Deshundra Jefferson.
In her third State of the County address, Jefferson reviewed five main accomplishments from 2025 that she said represent significant progress for Prince William County. She cited the adoption of the 2025–2028 Strategic Plan, ongoing tax relief efforts combined with investments in public safety, infrastructure, and education, as well as expanded access to affordable housing through the county’s first Affordable Dwelling Unit Ordinance and long-term funding commitments. Jefferson also noted modernization efforts such as launching PWC 311 for improved service delivery and opening the Prince William Crisis Receiving Center Complex to expand behavioral health care services.
Jefferson stated: “We will continue to make decisions that reflect our values, protect our quality of life and ensure that Prince William County remains a place where people want to live, work, raise a family and call home. Prince William County is a growing community. It’s a thriving community. It’s a vibrant community, and it is one we are building together. As we look ahead to the coming year, I am confident in our direction and inspired by our potential.”
She invited residents to attend the second annual State of the County event on Monday, Jan. 26 at the Hylton Performing Arts Center. An open house will take place from 6-7 p.m., followed by the main event at 7 p.m.
The Board elected Neabsco District Supervisor Victor Angry as Vice Chair for 2026; Angry is currently the longest-serving member on the Board and previously held this role in 2020. Brentsville District Supervisor Tom Gordy was chosen as Chair Pro-Tem for 2026; Gordy joined the Board after serving on the Planning Commission and being elected in November 2023.
