The Prince William County Republican Committee (PWCGOP) published a series of posts on August 13, 2025, criticizing Virginia State Senator Ghazala Hashmi’s legislative record and policy positions.

In one post, PWCGOP wrote: “Gun grab: @SenatorHashmi voted to ban the firearms Virginians use to protect their homes and even tried to slap on a 5 day waiting period to purchase one. (SB 1181, SB 880, SB 891). https://t.co/ctqIa5KqP0” (August 13, 2025). The message refers to Senate Bills 1181, 880, and 891 considered by the Virginia General Assembly. According to official records, these bills were part of recent legislative efforts in Virginia addressing gun safety measures. Some of the proposed laws included restrictions on certain types of firearms and implementation of waiting periods for purchases.

A subsequent post stated: “The truth is clear: Senator Ghazala Hashmi’s record is one of radical policies, extreme votes, and a relentless push to make Virginia look like California or New York. @SenatorHashmi https://t.co/lCj2FKG8ca” (August 13, 2025). This comment reflects ongoing political debates in Virginia over whether recent state legislation aligns with more progressive policies found in states such as California or New York.

Later that evening, PWCGOP posted another message: “School-Abortions Abby” (August 13, 2025).

PWCGOP is an official local committee affiliated with the Republican Party in Prince William County. Senator Ghazala Hashmi represents parts of Central Virginia in the state senate and has been involved in advancing various pieces of legislation related to gun control and other social issues.
