WOODBRIDGE, Va. — Just two weeks after reaching the major milestone of $30 million returned, U.S. Representative Abigail Spanberger announced today that her office has now returned more than $31 million in federal casework funds to residents of Virginia’s Seventh District.

Casework dollars are secured and returned by fighting for fair treatment for those having issues with a federal agency, program, or benefit. Spanberger’s office assists Virginians with many casework concerns — including backlogged Social Security checks, U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) benefits, Medicare appeals, and delayed Internal Revenue Service (IRS) refunds.

Since taking office on January 3, 2019, Spanberger’s office has closed more than 8,011 cases for Virginians and returned a total of $31,037,415.

“Serving the people of Virginia’s Seventh District in Congress means making sure that Virginians are treated fairly by our federal government — and that includes receiving the care and benefits owed to them,” said Spanberger. “Virginia families and seniors should be able to rely on their Social Security checks, tax refunds, VA benefits, and Medicare payments. Backlogged benefits cause more than just headaches — forcing families to make tough choices. Our office is available to do all that we can to help any resident of the Seventh District get what they deserve. I encourage anyone who is having an issue to contact my office.”
