Washington-Arlington-Alexandria metro surpass Salt Lake City in 2019

The Washington-Arlington-Alexandria metro area exported $13.4 billion in 2019, more than exports from Salt Lake City in 2019, according to the International Trade Administration.

A study from the Brookings Institute found competition between areas within the United States increases exports, which in turn generates stronger sales and more jobs for American workers.

The Washington-Arlington-Alexandria metro area consists of eight counties.

The Salt Lake City metro area comprises two counties exporting $13.3 billion in 2019.

The metro area with the most exports was Houston-The Woodlands-Sugar Land with $129.7 billion exported.
