City Announcement: Public Works Sandbag Program for Hurricane Ian 9/30/22

City Announcement:  Public Works Sandbag Program for Hurricane Ian 9/30/22

Tomorrow, Friday, September 30, 2022, sandbags will be made available to City of Manassas Park residents at the Manassas Park Public Works Building (331 Manassas Dr.).  The following stipulations will apply:

  • Sandbag handout will start at 8:00 AM and continue until 4:00 PM.
  • A maximum of 6 (six) sandbags per address will be issued.
  • Proof or residency and address will be required.  Residency/address will be verified via driver’s license or current utility bill.
  • Sandbag distribution is on a ‘first come, first served’ basis.  Supplies will be limited to the number of bags and/or amount of sand on-hand.
  • Due to the limited supply, we ask that residents at addresses with no history of flooding be courteous in their consideration of whether to pick up sandbags.  Those addresses with history of flooding represent the highest level of risk, and the program is intended to help those with the greatest risk and need.
Residents are encouraged to check the city website or social media for details on sandbag issuance prior to any major hurricane going forward.  For weather related forecasts, please visit the National Weather Service here.
