Patriots Announce 2023 Schedule
The George Mason softball program has released its 2023 schedule, which includes 56 regular season games, 27 of the games played at home.
In his second year at the helm, Justin Walker is joined by first-year assistant coaches Dominique Travers and Campbell Hutcherson.
The 26-player roster for the Patriots includes 15. Of the 11 newcomers, three are graduate transfers and eight are freshmen. You can learn more about softball's newcomers here.
The Patriots begin their 2023 season on the road in Boiling Springs, N.C., from Feb. 10-12, where they will play Ohio, Robert Morris, Austin Peay and Gardner Webb.
They will remain on the road on Feb. 17-19 when they travel to Spartanburg, S.C., when the Patriots will play University of Maryland Eastern Shore & University of South Carolina Upstate on the first day, South Carolina State & Holy Cross on the second and UMES one last time on the third.
Mason will have their home opener on Feb. 25-26 when Holy Cross comes to Fairfax for a three-game weekend series. The Patriots will then be in Charlottesville, Va., from March 4-5 to play St. Francis, Fairfield and Virginia.
The Patriots will then start a nine-game homestand from Mar. 11-19 that will feature a four-game series with Binghamton (March 11-12), a two-game series with Coppin State (March 15) and a three-game series with Loyola (March 18-19).
Atlantic 10 Conference play will officially start when Rhode Island comes to Fairfax for a three-game series on March 25-26.
After they play a non-conference game against Longwood in a two-game series on March 29, Mason will continue Atlantic 10 play with a three-game series in the Bronx against 2022 NCAA Regional Tournament participant and reigning conference champion Fordham (April 1-2)
The remaining games on the season include:
- Towson – Home, two-game, April 5;
- St. Bonaventure – Away, three-game, April 8-9;
- George Washington – Home, two-game, April 12;
- Saint Joseph's – Home, three-game, April 15-16;
- Dayton – Away, three-game, April 22-23;
- Georgetown – Home, one game, April 26;
- Saint Louis – Away, three-game, April 29-30; and
- Massachusetts – Home, three-game, May 5-6.
