Buzzed Driving is Drunk Driving this Holiday Season!
The pre-holidays are known for being merry and bright, but they are also known for being the deadliest season when it comes to impaired driving. Every pre-holiday season, lives are lost due to impaired drivers.
That’s why the Prince William County Police are joining with other national, state and local highway safety and law enforcement officials through Dec. 13, 2022, to remind all holiday partygoers that “Buzzed Driving is Drunk Driving.”
With office and holiday parties during this holiday season, it is important to always designate a sober driver ahead of time. Too many people still don’t understand that alcohol, drugs and driving just don’t mix. Too many lives are being lost and everyone must do their part to help to stop it.
For a safer holiday season, the Prince William County Police offer these tips:
- Designate a sober driver before going out and give that person the car keys.
- Individuals who are impaired and on their own should call a taxi or ridesharing service, use mass transit or call a sober friend or family member to get home safely.
- Promptly report drunk drivers you see on the roadways.
- Wear a seat belt, or use protective gear on a motorcycle; it’s your best defense against an impaired driver.
