WOODBRIDGE, Va. — U.S. Rep. Abigail Spanberger on June12 announced that her office has now surpassed $30 million in federal casework funds returned to residents of Virginia’s Seventh District.
Casework dollars are secured and returned by fighting for fair treatment for those having issues with a federal agency, program, or benefit. Since taking office on January 3, 2019, Spanberger’s office has closed more than 6,944 cases for Virginians and returned a total of $30,069,681.
“The chief responsibility of my team as public servants for the Seventh District and of myself as an elected representative is to get results for the Virginians we serve. on June12, I’m proud to share that our office has secured more than $30 million — a major milestone — in backlogged tax refunds, Social Security checks, VA benefits, Medicare appeals, and more,” said Spanberger. “We are committed to getting the answers Virginians need and the fair treatment they deserve. “I had been waiting almost 2 years on 1 year of back pay. The people at this government agency could see my check in the system. They would tell me, “Call back in 90 days if you haven’t received it.” The 7th time I heard that, a friend suggested asking Rep. Spanberger for help. I gave Rep. Spanberger’s staff the pertinent info. So, maybe 2 weeks later, an absolutely gorgeous direct deposit greeted me at breakfast. Thank you Abigail and staff.” — Brendan, Prince William
“I had been waiting for seven months for Vet Records Office to send the records of my service in the Navy with no response. An e-mail to your office requesting help produced a rather quick response form the records office. Thank you so much, I never expected to get the kind of help you provided. Congresswoman Spanberger truly looks out for the interests of her constituents, with no consideration of party affiliation.” — James Grider, Stafford
“I have been trying to settle this with OPM going on 3 years. They had it settled within 4 days. The response was simply amazing. I had a response within the hour after filing my claim.” — Kenneth Carey, Spotsylvania
