WOODBRIDGE, Va. — U.S. Rep. Abigail Spanberger announced today that her office has now returned more than $34 million in federal casework funds to residents of Virginia’s Seventh District.
Casework dollars are secured and returned by fighting for fair treatment for those having issues with a federal agency, program, or benefit. Spanberger’s office assists Virginians with many casework concerns — including backlogged Social Security checks, U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) benefits, Medicare appeals, and delayed Internal Revenue Service (IRS) refunds.
Since taking office on January 3, 2019, Spanberger’s office has closed more than 7,516 cases for Virginians and returned a total of $34,027,189.
“Helping constituents cut through red tape and navigate issues involving the federal government is a top priority for my office. Whether you’re battling a backlogged tax return, Social Security check, Medicare payment, or something else entirely, my team is committed to ensuring that Virginians receive the care and benefits they are owed,” said Spanberger. “I encourage any resident of the Seventh District who is having an issue with a federal agency, program, or benefit to please contact our office.”
