Governor Glenn Youngkin announced that WB Alloys, a UK-based wire alloy manufacturer, will establish its first U.S. production facility in Danville, Virginia. The company plans to invest $6.6 million and create 30 new jobs as part of this expansion. The facility will focus on producing wire alloys for the Navy and Department of Defense.
Governor Youngkin expressed pride in WB Alloys’ decision to choose Virginia for its U.S. operations, highlighting the state’s workforce and business climate. Secretary of Commerce and Trade Juan Pablo Segura emphasized the investment’s contribution to Virginia’s reputation as a global innovation hub.
WB USA President & WB Alloy Group Managing Director Paul Houston noted the strategic expansion’s role in reinforcing their global manufacturing footprint and serving both commercial and defense sectors across the United States.
Founded in 1974, WB Alloys specializes in high-performance alloy wire manufacturing for welding wire-based metal 3D printed components. Their initial U.S. operations will start in a 10,000-square-foot facility with plans to expand up to 50,000 square feet.
Senator Tammy Mulchi and Delegate Danny Marshall welcomed WB Alloys’ investment, citing Southern Virginia’s growing reputation for advanced manufacturing and defense-related innovation. The project was secured with help from several regional organizations and an $80,000 grant approved by Governor Youngkin.
Local officials expressed enthusiasm about the project’s impact on job creation and economic growth in the region. VEDP will support job creation through the Virginia Jobs Investment Program to assist with recruitment and training activities.
