Attorney General Jason Miyares has announced the findings of an investigation into Loudoun County Public Schools (LCPS), revealing concerns over potential Title IX violations, unlawful retaliation, and viewpoint discrimination.
The investigation highlighted that LCPS conducted a retaliatory Title IX investigation against three male students from Stone Bridge High School after they voiced religious objections to Policy 8040. This policy allows access to sex-separated facilities based on gender identity. The report suggests that LCPS might be punishing students for expressing faith-based views instead of protecting their constitutional rights.
Additionally, there are ongoing reports suggesting that LCPS and the School Board may have taken adverse actions against parents, teachers, and public speakers.
As a result of these findings, the Virginia Office of the Attorney General has referred the matter to the U.S. Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights and the U.S. Department of Justice’s Civil Rights Division for further investigation and necessary action.
