Volleyball Battles George Washington in Revolutionary Rivalry Clash

The George Mason women's volleyball team kicks off a three-match home-stand tomorrow when it welcomes Revolutionary Rival George Washington to the RAC on Tuesday.

The match will be the first of a home-away series for the two teams as a part of the Revolutionary Rivalry, with the second being played at the Charles E. Smith Center on Oct. 25.

George Mason and George Washington have met every year since 2004, and twice a year since the teams joined the A-10 in 2013. The Colonials hold an 8-19 advantage in all-time meetings, including the last time out, but the Patriots have one four of the last five and six of the last nine.

PATRIOT POINTS

  • Sophomore Olyvia Kennedy leads the Patriots with 141 kills so far this season, while freshman Gabriella Gelfound is just shy of the 100-kill mark at 96.
  • Gelfound and sophomore Damiana Bova-Ford pace the offense with 219 and 246 assists, respectively.
  • The middle blocking duo of sophomore Camille Larkin and graduate student Peyton Ehmke have been strong at the net, tallying 40.0 and 49.0 blocks each.
  • Ehmke and Larkin are also hitting efficiently for the offense, attacking at .330 and .258, respectively.

Three other Colonial hitters have also notched 100+ kills so far this season.
