The George Mason women's basketball team's win-streak came to an end on Tueday afternoon when they fell to the Ladyjacks of SFA, 90-62, in the final game of the FIU Holiday Hoops Showdown.
The Patriots (7-6) were led by graduate student Riley Childs who had 10 points for her second-straight game in double-figures. She also contributed three rebounds, an assist and a block. Meanwhile, freshman Amy O'Hara scored her first career points (six) and led the Patriots with seven rebounds.
Mason took a 7-5 lead into the media timeout, with all seven points by Childs before the Ladyjacks (9-2) scored three-straight three-pointers to close the quarter and lead 18-11 at the break.
The Ladyjacks used a balance offense in the second period to stretch their lead, with points from six different players. Mason got six points off the bench from senior Jazmyn Doster, but 64% shooting by SFA gave them a 46-29 lead at the half.
SFA outscored Mason 12-6 in the paint in the third quarter and they were able to limit the Patriots to just 13 points in the third. Mason was able to score 20 fourth-quarter points, highlighted by six from O'Hara, but they were unable to limit the Ladyjacks offensively as they scored 21 to provide the final tally.
